Over the past year, analysts could not decide on what the market is going to do. Even today, they still have little to no clue. One week they say the market is going down, the next week they say that the market is going up. What is actually going on is hard to say. The only thing that people can be certain about is uncertainty.
When should you decide to buy a home?
Market timing is not quite as important as most people think. Timing the market is usually not feasible for most people because they cannot time their lives. Life timing is far more important than market timing. The key to life timing is twofold, limit your moves and limit your decisions.
If your life gets too exciting, then you may be taking too many risks. Limit your life decisions by limiting the amount of times you move. If you move more than 3 times in your life, then you are buying too many homes.
The primary times that you should be moving is when you get married, have kids, and when your kids leave home. If you move times than this, then it is purely for cosmetic reasons.
This strategy involves careful selection of the house that you want to purchase. You cannot purchase the first house that comes along. Instead, you need to carefully select the house that you are looking to purchase. Make sure that you take all the necessary steps when looking at purchasing a property.
Market timing is not very effective when it comes to housing, but by making smart decisions, then you can take the guessing game out of purchasing a home. Do the math before making a decision on the house that you purchase.
How many times have you moved in your life? Why did you decide to move? Leave your response in the comments below.
