Stock Market Update; April 6, 2009, Wells Fargo reports an Earnings Surprise
Posted by Top Home Loans in Economy, General Business, Investing on April 10, 2009
This week was a very low volume week on the stock market with many investors and traders taking some time off on this short week. That doesn’t mean there was any absence of good news. On Thursday, the best news of all came when Wells Fargo Financial announced that they would show a third quarter profit of 3 billion dollars. This is amazing news because instead of losing money, the banks will be reporting some better than expected earnings. The markets surged on this news. Also, the unemeployment numbers were lowered; however, the total number of Americans collecting unemployment benefits remained at around 5.8 million. The highest amount of unemployed people in years.
